Ambassador Guo Min visits Baku Higher Oil School

On March 27, 2023, Ambassador Guo Min paid a visit to Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS), met Chinese students of the School and held a meeting with the Rector of BHOS Elmar Gasimov.

Rector Elmar Gasimov introduced BHOS in detail and stated that the traditional friendship between Azerbaijan and China is profound. BHOS attaches great importance to cooperation with China. Currently, it has established contacts and jointly implemented teaching and scientific research projects with universities and enterprises from China, including China University of Petroleum and Huawei Azerbaijan Company. The School is eager to further expand and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation with Chinese partners. We welcome more Chinese students to come to study in our School in order to cultivate more outstanding talents for both countries.

Ambassador Guo Min thanked Rector Elmar Gasimov for his introduction and pointed out that, under the personal care and promotion of the President Xi Jinping and President Ilham Aliyev, China-Azerbaijan relations have maintained a rapid, healthy and stable momentum of development, and cooperation between the two countries in humanitarian fields such as education and scientific research has continuously made new progress and achievements. BHOS is a well-known institution of higher learning in Azerbaijan and a leading university for cultivating professionals in the field of petroleum and chemical engineering. Chinese Embassy in Azerbaijan is willing to actively assist in promoting the establishment of contacts and strengthening exchanges between BHOS and Chinese universities, think tanks, and scientific research institutions, and jointly promote the deepening of cooperation in the field of education between two countries. Ambassador Guo Min also encouraged Chinese students in BHOS to study hard, live up to their youth, and strive to be the inheritors and successors of China-Azerbaijan friendship.

BHOS is a national higher education institution established in 2011 at the initiative of President Ilham Aliyev, and it has multiple majors including petroleum engineering, chemical engineering, process automation engineering, and information security and so on. Over the past ten years since its establishment, with complete infrastructure, strong faculty and excellent student resources, and vast social resources, BHOS has attracted hundreds of Azerbaijan Presidential Scholarship winners and outstanding young people from China, Canada, Türkiye, Pakistan and other countries to study here. BHOS has established cooperative relationships with universities in relevant fields from various countries and foreign-funded enterprises in Azerbaijan to carry out learning exchanges and achieve resource sharing. Successive graduates have achieved outstanding performance in professional learning and social practice, and have been highly recognized by Azerbaijani society.
