On February 10, 2023, Ambassador Guo Min paid a visit to the Embassy of the Republic of Turkiye in Azerbaijan and expressed her condolences for the significant loss of life caused by earthquake in Turkiye and met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkiye Cahit Bagci.

Ambassador Guo Min expressed her shock learning of the severe earthquakes that occured in the south-east part of Turkiye on February 6, which caused heavy casualties and property losses. The Chinese government and people share great empathy regarding the earthquake disaster. Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a message of condolence to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan right after the earthquake, conveying his condolences to the relatives of those who lost their lives in the disaster and wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured. Chinese government started the emergency humanitarian aid operation in the first time, rescue and medical teams were sent to Turkiye, and most-needed relief supplies were provided to the Turkish side. All sectors of Chinese society have also actively extended a helping hand, and many non-governmental rescue forces are rushing to the disaster area to assist the rescue. China will continue to maintain close coordination with Turkiye and offer support within our power. I believe that under the leadership of President Erdogan, the people of Turkiye will overcome the disaster and rebuild their homes at an early date.

Ambassador Cahit Bagci thanked Ambassador Guo Min for her presence and condolences and pointed out that China is a good friend and partner of Turkiye. Turkiye thanks China for providing humanitarian assistance in the first time, which shows that a friend in need is a friend indeed. It is believed that with the help of the international community, Turkiye will move faster out of the haze of disaster and rebuild its beautiful homeland.
