On November 29, 2022, Ambassador Guo Min visited Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction (AUAC) and attended the founding ceremony of the Chinese Teaching Center of the University. Rector of AUAC Gulchohra Mammadova, Azerbaijani director of the Confucius Institute of Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL) Rafik Abbasov attended the event. Nearly 100 people, including representatives of teachers and students of AUL Confucius Institute and AUAC, and mainstream media of Azerbaijan, participated.

Ambassador Guo Min warmly congratulated the founding of the Chinese Teaching Center and pointed out that, in recent years, under the personal care and promotion of the leaders of our countries, China-Azerbaijan relations keep moving forward, local people’s interest in the Chinese language and its teaching has been increasing in Azerbaijan. AUL Confucius Institute opened a new Chinese Teaching Center in AUAC, which will provide a broad platform for teachers and students of the university to learn Chinese language and understand Chinese culture. I hope that all students will experience the unique charm of Chinese culture in the process of learning Chinese language, join in the cause of China-Azerbaijan friendship, and make their own contributions to promoting China-Azerbaijan friendship.

Rector Mammadova expressed sincere gratitude to the Embassy of China in Azerbaijan for its support for the development of the Chinese Teaching Center and said that, with the continuous development of bilateral relations, exchanges in the political, economic, trade and cultural fields between the two countries are increasingly close, young people of Azerbaijan are eager to learn more about China by learning Chinese language. The establishment of the Chinese Teaching Center of the AUAC is another important achievement of the cooperation in the field of education between the two countries, and is also the best way for teachers and students to understand Chinese culture.

The event went through in a friendly and warm atmosphere. Ambassador Guo Min and Rector Mammadova jointly attended the signing ceremony of the Chinese Teaching Center of AUAC, and enjoyed the wonderful performances of traditional Chinese dance, musical instruments, calligraphy, tea ceremony, etc. performed by teachers and students of AUL Confucius Institute and students of AUAC. The event was widely covered by mainstream media in Azerbaijan such as CBC and AZTV.
