On August 2nd, 2022, Ambassador Guo Min attended the closing ceremony of Huawei Technologies Azerbaijan’s “Seeds for the Future” 2022 program. More than 80 people participated in the event, including representatives of the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport and the Ministry of Science and Education of Azerbaijan, rectors of Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University, Baku Higher Oil School, Azerbaijan Technical University and the National Aviation Academy, Vice President of Huawei Central Asia and Caucasia Region Liu Tong, participants from various universities, as well as representitives of mainstream media in Azerbaijan.
Ambassador Guo Min conveyed congratulations on the successful implementation of the “Seeds of the Future” program and pointed out that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Azerbaijan. Under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Ilham Aliyev, China–Azerbaijan relations have always maintained a rapid and stable development momentum. As changes and a pandemic both unseen in a century work together, the digital economy has gradually become an important direction for future economic and social development. There’s an immense potential for cooperation between China and Azerbaijan, for the two countries can benefit from each other’s advantages in the digital economy. Huawei has been providing high-quality products and services to the Azerbaijani government, enterprises, and people since it started its business in this country. Huawei has been actively participating in the construction of the information infrastructure in Azerbaijan, continuously improving the country’s communication facilities and environment and helping to cultivate more ICT talents. The “Seeds for the Future” program is a significant attempt by Huawei to enhance bilateral cooperation and increase people-to-people exchanges; it also represents in microcosm how Chinese enterprises in Azerbaijan fulfill their social responsibilities and promote people-to-people and cultural exchanges.
During the event, Ambassador Guo Min was introduced to the project report of “the excellent group” of the program and presented awards to the outstanding students. She encouraged all students to take advantage of the great platform made possible by Huawei to facilitate learning and exchange of ideas, work hard to become “Seeds for the Future” that promote ICT industry development in both China and Azerbaijan, and make even bigger contributions to the development of China–Azerbaijan relations.
