On October 27th, 2021, Yu Jianhua, International Trade Representative and Vice Minister of Commerce, and Shahin Mustafayev, Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, co-chaired the 8th meeting of the China-Azerbaijan Intergovernmental Economic and Trade Cooperation Committeeby video link. Ambassador Guo Min attended the meeting.

Yu Jianhua said that in June this year, President Xi Jinping and President Ilham Aliyev had a phoneconversation, reaching important consensus on promoting BRI cooperation and enhancing cooperation in multiple areas, charting the way forward for China-Azerbaijan practical cooperation. Under the strategic guidance of the leaders of the two countries, the two sides overcame difficulties brought by the pandemic to further deepen and consolidate trade and economic cooperation. China and Azerbaijan are about to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their diplomatic ties in 2022. The Ministry of Commerce of China stands ready to work with Azerbaijan to implement the important consensus reached by the two Presidents, promoting high-quality Belt and Road cooperation.

Shahin Mustafayev said that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to developing economic cooperationand trade with China and stands ready to strengthen cooperation with China in infrastructure, cross-border transportation, information and communication, digital economy,industrial parksand other areas, which will further optimize the investment and business environment. More Chinese enterprises are welcome to invest in Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan stands ready to work with China to further tap the potential and bring bilateral economic and trade cooperation to a new level, benefiting the two peoples.
