Ambassador Guo Min meets with Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev

On July 28, 2021, Ambassador Guo Min met with Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev. The two sides exchanged extensive views on the implementation of the agreements reached by President Xi Jinping and President Ilham Aliyev during their telephone conversation and on promoting the in-depth development of practical cooperation between China and Azerbaijan in various fields.

Ambassador Guo Min pointed out that in recent years, under the personal promotion of President Xi Jinping and President Ilham Aliyev, bilateral relations have been developing healthily and steadily, Belt and Road cooperation has yielded fruitful results. Faced with COVID-19 since last year, China and Azerbaijan have pulled together to overcome difficulties, which fully demonstrates the profound friendship, as the proverb goes "a friend in need is a friend indeed."

Ambassador Guo Min noted that Azerbaijan is an important partner in the Belt and Road cooperation. There is broad prospect for bilateral trade and economy and cultural cooperation. Taking the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations as an opportunity, China is willing to cooperate with Azerbaijan to seek greater development of the bilateral ties to deliver greater benefits to the two peoples.

Mr. Mustafayev sincerely congratulated Ambassador Guo Min on the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and noted that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to its relations with China. Azerbaijan was one of the first countries which supported and actively participated in the implementation of the “One Belt, One Road” initiative. He also expressed gratitude to China for its valuable support and assistance in the fight against COVID-19. Azerbaijan is ready to maintain close ties with China to promote the rapid development of exchanges and cooperation in various fields.
