On April 24, the COVID-19 vaccines provided by the Government of China were successfully delivered to Baku. On April 27, the Handover Certificate Signing Ceremony for vaccines donated by China to Azerbaijan was held at Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan. The event were attended by Ambassador of China to Azerbaijan Ms. Guo Min, Deputy Minister of Health of Azerbaijan Mr. Viktor Gasimov and head of the State Protocol Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Mr. Ramil Rzayev, as well as representatives of the media.
Ambassador Guo Min said that earlier this month, the first batch of COVID-19 vaccines purchased by Azerbaijan from China was delivered to Baku, and recently vaccines donated by the Government of China to Azerbaijan were also arrived. In the context of limited domestic supply, China overcame many difficulties and within just one month provided Azerbaijan with two batches of vaccines, which fully reflects the high level of political mutual trust and deep traditional friendship between the two countries. The safety and effectiveness of Chinese vaccines are widely recognized around the world. I am confident that Chinese vaccines will play an active role in combating the pandemic, protecting health of Azerbaijani people. Ms. Ambassador sincerely hopes that the Chinese vaccines will contribute to the vaccination process in Azerbaijan, as well as help the Government and and people of Azerbaijan to defeat the pandemic as soon as possible.
On behalf of the Government and people of Azerbaijan, Deputy Minister Viktor Gasimov expressed sincere gratitude to the Government and people of China for assistance in exporting and donating vaccines to Azerbaijan. Thanks to the consistent delivery of Chinese vaccines to Azerbaijan, the vaccination process in the country is well implemented, and public awareness of epidemic prevention and people's desire for vaccination continue to grow. He is confident that the Chinese vaccines will help Azerbaijan create lasting protection against the pandemic and play a positive role in protecting the lives and health of the Azerbaijani people and restoring the economic and social development of the country. Azerbaijan is ready to work with China to further strengthen cooperation in fighting against the pandemic and in the fields of medicine and healthcare, in order to promote the continuous development of friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries.
